Comments: Super site! I think that you should add THE LADY EVE to your list of "great sexual and erotic" films. This may sound kind of old-fashioned, but those few scenes in which Fonda and Stanwyck are alone have more sexual tension than any other film I've seen!

Comments: This film site is by far the best ive seen , ive seen the internet movie database which i thought was an excellent site but this site is as equally as good , maybe even better . The review for schindlers list (one of my favourite films) you gave was excellent , it was full of detail and effort , i will certainly go on this site again!

Comments: This is a really wonderful site. Your analysis of these films is remarkable. I think the average person wouldn't pick up half of the things that you see (especially in Hitchcock films). It's movies like these that make you want to really appreciate film. The films chronicled in your site are truly the greatest films ever made, aside from foreign films. I have never seen a film site so detailed as yours and I hope you continue to add to it.

Comments: Is this serious? Ok, i have to agree with some of the movies you have included but overall it reads as if you have simply listed a few Academy Award winners. To compose a list like this you need to at least include films such as GLORY, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM and MEMENTO. I doubt you have even seen any of these. GO OUT NOW AND SEE THEM! Yeah ET was a cute 80's icon but what is great about the film apart from the fact that it's been a nice little earner. Days or weeks after seeing your supposedly great "THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS" where you still thinking about what you had seen? Are you still running over scenes pondering their complexity and their underlying meaning? Have you made all your friends sit down and had them watch it and analyse it with you? Compared and argued scenes? NO, i doubt any of this. Go away, live a little and then watch a huge number of films and read up on then. Read what the Directors were trying to say when they said to have a scene acted, cut, edited and then done all over again trying to capture the perfect message. Great films.... hahahaha, do you really fail to see the irony?

Comments: I cannot begin to express how useful this site has been to my years of film research! I did have one comment, though--I noticed that the list of the AFI Top Legends was added. Why not come up with Filmsite's own list of the top 50 legends? There is already the Filmsite list of the greatest films, so I think a similar list of the stars themselves would be a very useful opinion for researchers like myself to use. Keep up the good work!

Comments: I miss Johnny Depp in the list of actors. I think him to be an excellent maker of choosing parts. Fear and Loathing, What eating Gilbert Grape, Dead Man (Jim Jarmusch with awsome soundtrack by Neil Young to which u all would agree), Benny & Joone ( slapstick tribute), I also miss Benicio Del Toro, + Usual Suspects in best films. Also Seven Samurai = Akira Kurosawa....but that one may be attributable to the limitment to USA films only. Can u not construct another page with Foreign Language movies or something? Emir Kusturica, whith his perfect camera man Vilko Filac? Or Robbie Muller in Dead Man? What about the cinematography in A river runs through it? Or Brad Pitt as an actor? Or the casting by Luc Besson in the 5th elemant, where all the bad guys from Movie PLanet are assigned to save the planet from evil? I will leave it at that...but there is a lot more ofcourse where that came from. I have a master in Film & Television Sciences hence my interest. I hope that this e-mail ( i am aware of its chaotic structure ) will be thought of as being insightful, constructive and thought provoking. Have fun, Antoine.

It stated that a science-fiction film was the same as a horror film but with a monster instead of a person doing the killing. I would like to inform you that you are very wrong in this assumtion. science-fiction is defined by one thing and one thing only; the presence of advanced technology. I egerly await a reply from you. Comments: Hi all. I just want to share this with you Deeds researchers. My mom's brother (Uncle Sonny, better known as Albert Deeds) sent Mom an interesting letter this week which Mom sent me a copy of. He lives in New Milford, Connecticut and he also sent a newspaper article. They are going to remake the old movie "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town." It will be filmed right near where he lives. As long as I can remember (which is pretty darn long ago) Uncle Sonny told the story of his grandfather Albert Deeds (married to Sue Rader) taking my uncle in the woods every day to write and write. He says his grandfather wrote the movie script. He said his Aunt Susie (Albert and Sue Rader's daughter) had the original papers he wrote. She died and we don't know who has them. Remaking this movie (and yet in his home town) got him thinking about this again. Just thought I'd share that info. I wish i could find out more.

You take only American movies. No doubt, USA is the movie nation NO 1, but there are a lot of movies of other nations (especially Germany, France, Russia), which make very great and important movies.

Nice to see someone including Roman Holiday in the top 100 films and that may be the best brief summary I've ever read of Cool Hand Luke.....and that's from someone who had always seen it as an allegory for christ in a modern world (just too much there for any other interpretation imo).

Comments: This site is very informative. I have used this site to write reviews for my high school film course. If you watch a film when you are tired you can come hear to read the review without having to watch the whole film again. The introductory information is great and informative for films. It gives you a background on where the film was made, what is was based off of, and key cast members. This site is especially helpful for finding quotes from a movie you rented and returned. This site has enabled me to return movies on time. I can thus write reviews of films without even having the movie because I can find all the qoutes I need in the reviews.

Comments: Your site is an outstanding site, and the following comment is offered with the recognition that you can't do everything. I suggest you also include screenplay academy award nominations and winners in your academy award summary. Historically, some of the best films in any year are those which are nominated for best screenplay but NOT for best picture or director. For example in this year's field, those films would include Almost Famous, Wonder Boys, O Brother Where Art Thou, and You Can Count on Me. Go back to a random year, and you will see why including these nominees in your already copious lists will be an invaluable resource for those of us who use your site to spark good movie viewing ideas.

Comments: One must appreciate the effort which went into writing all those narrative descriptions. The writing style is, however, laborious and pretentious -- reminiscent of a high-school newspaper staffer who's trying to imitate a local TV reviewer who's trying to imitate a national magazine. Meaning well is not the same as being good, and enthusiasm is not the same as intelligence.

Comments: Whew! I just spent two days combing over your terrific site--very comprehensive, informative and engaging. I've even made my own top 100 hundred list. (uh-oh, too much time on my hands.) You'll forgive me though, I have to concur with your other reader that A Clockwork Orange ought to be in the top 100. Oh well, still a great site.

Comments: Yet again, another past worshipping, contemporary ignoring web-site that rates the likes of John Wayne but ignores the talents of much better modern actors. Only in the 50's and 60's could such a terrible actor ar J. Wayne be appreciated. Admittedly, a lot of modern films are terrible, but have you actually looked at the percentage of older films that are bad? Its MUCH higher, and those that are bad are awful, not just slightly dodgy. I can't wait until my generation takes over as the dominant percentage of the population, and we can look at older films without the misty eyed worship that you give them, and we see them for what they really are......

Comments: Finally a resource that really delves into the movies. Because of the cost of print, many movie books are just fluff pieces and most web sites aren't serious about the content. Great job. I know I'll use you a resource for my movie needs!

Comments: Great site. Very informative. I'll definitely be visiting again. One comment though ... only three movies are on your list that have been made in the last 20 years ... Blade runner, ET and Raging Bull, all of which are great movies. Does this mean that great movies aren't being made anymore? Of course not, but great movies have to stand the test of time. Ergo I pose the question; which movies made in the last 20 years would/should appear on "great movies of all time" lists in say ... 20 years from now. I'm casting my ballot for Slingblade, The Matrix and Fight Club. OK, maybe not great but damn good in so many different ways and I like 'em!

Comments: I have gone to your site quite a bit in the last several months, simply because it beats the heck out of every other review site I have been to. The idea of making a site with a lot of full-length, in-depth reviews on classic films was something I had wanted to do for a long time... BUT NOT NOW!! I can't top your site. I think you would do yourself a big favor by making a Top 50 (or at leat Top 25) foreign films list. After all, any top 100 list missing Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai or Fellini's 8 1/2 just isn't complete. But for an English-language only list, your picks are absolutely superb. There are were a few that I disagreed on, but after I read your insightful reviews, I usually changed my mind. Being able to fully appreciate a movie is a great thing. If you can, visit my site on Christmas Day or afterwards, and check out MY top 100 list, which includes a few silents and foreigns as well as the usual goodies.
